Critical thinking can open up our students to the realities of life in their true essence. Dogma in teaching is what our educational system is dishing out to muddy the young minds and increase tunnel thinking patterns. Objective, logical, multiple perspectives, emphasis on ethics, norms and responsible citizenship could drive toward a tolerant society. Only through questioning and reducing biases can we shape an enlightened society. Family, places of worship, educational institutions, and community as a whole usher thinking minds with the spirit of co-existence. Our education system is rotten to the core what with ill-founded educational policies, below-par educational budgets, four-tiered educational institutions, regimented minds, and a lack of civil sense. Pakistan’s youth population can only be harnessed if it is nudged towards critical thinking and analytical approaches with commensurate skill sets. Logic, rationalism, and emphasis on philosophical foundations of different disciplines could be the game changer. To begin with, let us tell the truth to our students about Pakistan’s history and Islamic studies followed by philosophical strands. Regarding history attached below is the review of Murder of History by KK Aziz to find how narratives have been constructed here to misguide our students. Expecting an enlightened, tolerant, and knowledge-seeking generation in this mess is invalid.
